Ok... was shopping at orchard today.

passed by cosfest semifinals going on at ngee ann city.
READ ON! i'm not really fangirling over cosplay or anime or manga this time.

it was held in conjunction with Tanjong Pagar blah blah celebration event or sth. can't rem. so u see alot of non-anime fans there.

there were police checks. police stationed everywhere.
3 entry points where u hv to go through metal detector and all.

quite surprising hor?

the thing is....
the HILARIOUS thing is...

just think of the cosplayers.

I saw fans dressed in punk. And you know what punk costumes consist of. Metal stuff everywhere. chains, earrings, rings, nose rings, whatever. can you imagine going through the detector???

Secondly, props. WEAPONS. there were guns and swords here and there. Guns passing through the checkpoints. It's hilarious when you think of it this way!!! I mean, you can't even carry a toy gun at some places... through normal checkpoints...

Lol! I was laughing so hard when it struck me.
Of course cosplayers have a checkpoint designated for them, but it's still a checkpoint with police and metal detectors. Hahaha!

Another issue.
Live Earth concerts.
JY's sister's words makes sense... to me.

staging these concerts here and there. imagine the resources used. and everyone watching it on TV. resources used up again.
I don't know much about the environmental messages conveyed through these concerts. (it just started on tv here. still watching.) But hm... not much use just telling people to be eco-friendly. i think it's more useful if you remind people exactly what little things they can do to help. a short list or whatever.

Cos i guess most people know that it's an issue, but a BIG issue, and regard themselves as small tiny beings - what can small tiny beings do? *shrugs* or maybe it's just me. >_<

BTW, today (07/07) is Tanabata! Japanese Cow Herder & Weaving Maiden (whatever) festival.
I'm sure you've read this in some manga before... where they get this tall tall bamboo, write their wishes on pieces of paper and tied it up on the bamboo. If I remember correctly, the higher up you tie, the more likely your wish will come true. ^__^
