ok... I've always wanted to talk about this, but everytime i got too lazy and didn't.
HL316 Gender and Sexuality Studies.
It's the most interesting subject I've ever done! it's difficult, because of all the theories and philosophies, but it's so interesting i never felt sleepy reading the notes or during class.
So, what topics have I covered?
Sex v.s. Gender, Body v.s. Mind (why men are linked to body and women to soul), bodily fluids, butch, transsexual, homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual (not much of this), feminism, masculinity, history of sexuality - how sex and power/politics link, etc etc.
And we have to watch 1 compulsory film every week (and 1 optional). I'm just going to watch all cos it's a rare chance. Most of the films are mature in content - M18, R21 (I am counted 21 already) and belong to the art category (yes, i think it does).
Examples of film are: The Crying Game, Orlando, Paris is Burning, etc (most on transgender and such).
Note: There are differences between transsexual, transgender, crossdressing etc.
Next week's topic is censorship and pornography. NO, we are not given a porn film to watch. duh. Instead, we have to watch a documentary on the making of a porn film (one of the first which brought a revolutionary change to society), and the effects it brought about... on society and culture and politics. It's amazing. How back then, America was so conservative, with porn industry and the authorities fighting almost endlessly. If you wanna know more, ask me about it when you see me. I don't wanna say much here.
And oh yeah! sometimes, we get to watch an episode from a particualr drama series during class (those 30 mins series). Last mon, we watched an episode from Will & Grace. It was soooo funny!!!!!!!! Will is a gay, Grace is straight, they are friends and live together. Will has a gay friend who is only a friend, not a boyfriend. So that episode was about the 3 of them getting excited about this gay show screening on TV, and that night's episode was supposed to contain a kiss between the two male leads. But the TV station censored that part out, and they were so disappointed and mad, especially Will's gay friend. So they went to the TV station to complain, but it didn't work out (with the assistant guy PR manager flirting with Will's gay friend).
They didn't give up. Just so happened that outside the TV station, someone famous was filming a live documentary or sth and was interviewing people around. Will's gay friend ran up and hogged the mic, and started crapping before complaining. Asked sth like "when will people get to see two gay men making out on National TV?"
Then Will answered sth like everyone will get to see it now, and kissed tt friend of his in front of the camera. on the lips la. smooching manz. so funny!!!

First things first, those who have been to my hse knows that I don't have a balcony. There's just this railing and when u look down, there are metal grills between us and the neighbours below.
Recently, those STUPID neighbours went to seal the grills up. As in, they built and glass plane. So when u look down now, u see glass plane and grills. Gods know why they did that. To prevent rain? Dirt? But it is a problem to us. There's only this small pipe for rainwater to run down, or else it'll collect and flood our home or breed mosquitoes.
Bunch of idiots. They have it good while we have to put up with the dirt, water and whatnot.
And when rain hits the glass plane, it is so noisy!!
But the mysterious thing is, yesterday, a frog appear on the glass plane balcony.
So strange!!
There are only 2 stories above our unit, and both don't have balconies.
So I was telling my sis that the frog fell from the sky (cos it was raining yesterday).
It's still there now. Poor thing though. I guess it'll starve to death. We have no idea how to rescue it because the metal grills (above the glass plane) pose a problem.
My sis suggested feeding it. Lol~ xD

Wanted to talk about the Lit module I'm taking (Gender and Sexuality Studies), but guess I'll do it another time. Just enjoy the frog mystery for now! :D
P.S. Watched The Devil Wears Prada last night. Niiice~ It's a glamorous fashion show. Clothes really do make a person. Plus Meryl Streep was really good! Prob is, the storyline is soooo predictable. Guess everyone goes for the clothes.
